Miguel Ruiz – EscapeSpace – Romain Freitas

Vans Era

Romain Freitas contacted us to share his latest project. And it was a good move. It is a video of his friend Miguel Ruiz. It offers a very nice selection of spots, and some tricks particularly caught our attention, such as the sw rollin back five and the ender on a bank, which I won’t spoil here. Here are a few words from Miguel:

“I’m Miguel Ruiz, grown and harvested in Bogota, Colombia. At 26 years old, I’ve been living in Barcelona for 4 years. I came to Europe to visit and I never wanted to leave; this place inspires me deeply. I love to create from any perspective. Currently, I have launched my own handmade clothing brand, ‘Dearr‘ which, more than a business, represents a moment of harmony in my day-to-day life.

This video is the first one I shot with a camera, and it reflects the transformation of my vision about the places and the city after a year of injuries. I skate in different places because, after a couple of injuries to my ankles, I found it difficult to continue with impact skating. After a period of discouragement, I decided to use the tools at my disposal and explore a new way of skating. Thus, I fell in love with skateboarding again, discovering that it is much more fun, and I enjoy skateboarding more than ever.

This is a completely independent project, recorded mainly by my friends. After gathering enough clips, my friend Romain, a cool and talented guy I met in Pau, France, offered to edit the video. The song selection took me months as I was looking for the perfect combination for my ears.

I hope you enjoy this project as much as I do!”
