ITW – Danicrucified – “gutter” video
With a bit of delay and thanks to the story of a friend, a Répu local and clothes designer of all kinds, hello Clément –Bigpopey on IG- that I discovered the “gutter” a video presenting a great bunch of locals that I am used to meeting in Paris. Hyped by this edit, I wanted to know more about this project led by Daniel.
Can you introduce yourself?
Hey what’s up my name is Daniel im from London, I skate and I film sometimes haha.
What is the idea behind this project ?
Honestly, there was barely a plan or idea. The video’s just the by-product of the time I spent living out here.
How long did you spend filming and editing ?
I spent around two months actually filming but it was more like half of that due to the Parisian winter making it pretty hard to film a lot of days. It rained a lot while I was here which made it a little difficult. I was actually only meant to stay in Paris for a week or two originally but I kept extending my stay so we could film more. Shoutout to the homies Otto (Loic) and Taian for hosting me for most of that time. Towards March the weather got way better so that’s when we got a majority of the footage. Editing took a few weeks because I’m nit-picky. I kept re-editing it over and over again. Eventually, I stopped caring and finished it because of the premiere deadline and at the end of the day it’s just a skate video it doesn’t really matter.
Who are in the videos, how did you meet them ?
So I actually met everyone except Otto during the three months I was in town. Completely randomly too. Just from skating Republique or random spots. Ended up making so many friends I feel blessed to have met so many cool nice people. About a third of the homies in the video aren’t even from Paris too it was a pretty international crew. Lou was visiting from the Bay Area and Leo moved here from Canberra a few months before I showed up. Gabe and Harris are from California originally too, gotta give additional filming cred to Gabe on Lou’s backside flip at Bercy from last summer.
At 6’011, we saw Jules (that I used to see in Répu) but he took a hard slam.
Yeah, that was actually insane. The sesh was pretty much over at that spot and Jules had the idea to nose bonk over the bin before we left. Ended up getting folded haha It was lowkey the best clip I have filmed. Wish I got the opportunity to film more with him. Next time!
At 7’29, man is a genius ! How did he gets that idea to take off his shirt ?
That’s Amad, that guy is crazy haha wish I got some more clips of him too but that one was too funny to not put in. I guess that’s like his party trick to take off his shirt while doing a nose manny? It’s a weird coincidence too because Cam does the same thing in the last video I filmed (both completely unaware of each other they both just did it) which is kinda weird to think about.
Can you talk about the MVP of the video (he got also the ender in Troca) ?
Leonardo Panzera. I have to say his full name because he really deserves the recognition. he killed it and is such a humble dude too. hopefully, this video can get his name out there a little he really deserves it.
Do you have a lil backstory when you were filming ?
The ceiling in my bedroom caved in back In London. It was pretty gnarly ended up moving out and I got paid a few month’s rent in compensation. Pretty much got the bus to Paris straight after that. I definitely needed a change of scenery + had a couple friends out here so it kinda just made sense I guess. I was pretty dead set on coming home with a video. I’m happy with how it turned out and I’m super grateful to everyone who checked it out. Oh, and I have to thank La Ferme for letting us premiere the video there. Merci de nous recevoir!
